Effective Course Management Tips To Help You Lower Your Handicap Fast
Golf is truly a great game that everyone should consider playing on a regular basis as it has so much to offer. However it is enjoyed most when you are also playing well and getting better. Course management is an important aspect to the game and done properly can help to lower your scores by quite a bit.
Playing with high winds:
At some point or another you will face medium to high winds on the course and you need to adjust your strategy in order to be a good player even if the wind is blowing heavily. The key to remember in windy situations is to keep the ball down so on many approach shots you may need to take an extra club or two and hit 70-80 percent shots with the goal of keeping the ball lower and also putting less spin on the ball as this make it less susceptible to being influenced heavily by the wind.
If you are faced with heavy wind in your face on a tee shot then instead of taking driver you may want to consider a 3 wood or even a 3 iron that will keep the ball down and give you a better chance of hitting the fairway. It is important to know your game well and do not try to be too bold or aggressive on the course. Your primary goal is to hit the fairway from the tee and then hit the green from the fairway if you are within range otherwise lay up usually short of the green also in the fairway or semi rough.
On many holes you will find that the pins are tucked in very tight locations with very little around them, in these cases also known as sucker pin positions most amateurs should instead opt to hit the center of the green instead of risking missing the green by going for the flag. If you do miss try to at least leave yourself with some green to work with as this will make getting up and down much easier. Click here for more effective tips on how to improve at golf.
