A lot of players especially beginner golfers struggle with hitting the slice golf shot. There are several things that cause the slice so it is important to understand them before you try to apply any fixes. A slice golf shot is essentially caused by having an outside to in swing path. One tip to help you reduce the chances of hitting a slice shot is to use a slightly closed stance as this will encourage a more inside to out swing path that promotes straight golf shots.
Avoid casting the club:
Another common problem is releasing the club too early, this results in loss of power and distance and reduced club head speeds at impact. Avoid using your dominant hand too much in the swing instead keep the grip pressure light with your right hand if you are a right handed player. Another useful swing thought is to think of pulling the club through the hitting zone as this will promote a more inside to out swing path also.
Another thing to check is to make sure that your club face is square at address and not open. An open club face points to the right of the target so make sure that when you address the ball the club face is pointing to your intended target. Lowering your finish position will also help to reduce the chances of hitting a slice shot. Also, if you are always trying to kill the ball then this can result in inconsistency also so make sure to swing within yourself and be sure to maintain good balance after every swing. Apply the tips above on correcting the golf slice and have more enjoyment on the course
