The slice can be a very nagging problem in the game of golf however there are ways to get rid of it if you can learn to master some fundamental swing mechanics. The first is to develop an understanding of what really causes the slice in the first place. If you are a right handed player then it is a pronounced clockwise spin on the ball that causes it to go left to right. The opposite of course applies if you are a left handed player.
Keeping the dominant hand passive:
If you find you are struggling with the slice then chances are that you are coming over the top and this can often be caused by trying to muscle the ball with the right hand instead of keeping it relaxed. It is also important to reduce tension in your body and stay loose and relaxed mentally as this will promote a better swing path that is more inside to out and allows for solid contact with the ball. Another very important tip to hitting the ball solidly is to keep the head down and not come out of the swing as that will usually result in an outside to in club path that promotes the slice shot.
It is important to always swing within yourself and do not try to muscle the club as this usually results in poor contact and bad shots. Even for the driver it is best to swing slightly less than your full power as this will allow you to have much more control and you may even be surprised how much further the ball goes since you will on average make much better contact. Use these tips to help you correct the golf slice and hit the ball in the fairway and greens more often.
